Smashing Time!!!

Finally the kitchen is free from tiles.

It was a lot easier than I thought.

Despite the state of the plaster underneath, it looks miles better!!

Now I am ready to have the room partially plastered and the artex ceiling plastered at the weekend.

This Weekend....

I mainly be removing the last of the kitchen tiles in preparation for the plastering.

If that goes well and quickly, I may go really mad and start sanding down the dorrframes and skirting.

Still living the dream people!!!!

What A Busy Weekend..

Well, after a year, I decided to hang a bedroom mirror, put up a bathroom mirror and paint a small chest of drawers just to throw some colour in the bedroom.

I also fitted a ball catch and plate so that the bi-folding door closes, and cleaned off the glass after the glossing.

Now I am having a panic as I have an electrician round Friday and the whole kitchen plastered Saturday and I have not taken all the tiles off.

New Doors and Windows!

On Monday and Tuesday I had a new front and back door fitted, along with a kitchen window.

I cannot tell you the difference it has made having doors that fit!!!

Here are the obligatory before and after photos!

Bathroom Painting.

Midday and I have painted the whole bathroom. It seemed silly just to cut it.

One more coat at one thirty.

Then just glossing and it will be totally finished.

Only then will I start on the kitchen.

Phase 1 - Test Tile Removal.

Well, this was an eye opener.

I got myself all charged up and ready, equipment at the ready, safety goggles on.

I tapped using the wall paper scraper and hammer and wiggled it.  Next thing almost half of the tiles come forward in one huge sheet.

Great, this is not only easy but also a lot quicker than I had hoped.  Then I realised that they had pulled all the plaster off the wall.

I am glad that I know now to factor in re plastering as I want my tiles straight and to stay up.

Here are the photos of this exciting  mission.

The Kitchen. Before the chaos starts....

Well, this is the kitchen before I test my DIY skills and embark on a makeover, that I also hope remains on budget to complete by the end of the year.

I am having double glazed window and back door fitted on the 19th March. The window section will be drastically different.

Then its a list....

Put up new tiles
New worktops
Paint cupboards and related areas
Undercoat all walls
Paint ceiling
Repaint green walls
Paint remaining 2 walls
New flooring
Sand down doorways and skirting
Rub down bi-folding door
Undercoat doorways, skirting, bi0folding door
Gloss doorways, skirting, bi0folding door.

This is the plan and this blog will plot my progress.

Chunky Knitting!

I have gone bonkers and bought big needles and super chunky wool.

In 3 hours I managed to knit a sleeve!!!

However I am very nervous as I dont think that I will have enough wool as the sleeve took 1 and 3/4 balls and the pattern said that I only needed 5 balls in total!!!

Vinnie did well to resist the temptaion though!!

Roman Blind Material

I have got myself some of this to make 3 Roman blinds in my kitchen.

I am very excited as it is the perfect material for me.
